Our Contribution to Environmental Protection

Gadgets certainly don't fulfill basic needs. But very much like a videogame, a magazine or a visit to the movies, they are a great source of entertainment. Everyone deserves some distraction. When using our products, we want you to feel good. So we decided that every GreatGadget will make an effort to help protecting the environment.

Partnership with Carbonfund.org

Unfortunately, almost all goods cause CO₂ emissions during their production process. While these can be sometimes reduced, it is usually extremely difficult to avoid them altogether. But since we like you to be able to enjoy our gadgets with a clear conscience, we have started a cooperation with Carbonfund.org. Through a voluntary donation of about 5 percent of every item's manufacturing costs, some of the production related CO₂ emissions will be offset.

As a leading provider of carbon offset solutions, Carbonfund.org guarantees the optimal utilization of all donations. With reference customers such as Volkswagen, Dell and Staples, our contributions are certainly in good company. We are proud to be one of the first providers of "sustainable Gadgets". When purchasing a GreatGadget, you participate in our effort to make a difference.

Recyclable Packaging

All GreatGadgets are being shipped in reusable boxes. We deliberately do not make use of plastic blister packaging, as their recycling tends to be significantly more difficult. In contrast, our cardboard boxes can be conveniently folded and if required, they are easily disposable using one of the common collection systems.

Avoiding environmentally harmful materials

As of July 2006 the European Union has banned harmful substances such as lead, mercury and cadmium from all appliances and components (RoHS directive). However, outside of Europe these potentially hazardous materials are still used in most production processes.

We believe that environmental protection should be a global effort. That's why all GreatGadgets worldwide are free from harmful substances. Through this voluntary initiative, our manufacturing costs increase by approximately 10 percent. So if you ever find a GreatGadget being slightly more expensive than a similar product from a different brand, now you know why. But it's a small contribution with a big effect.
